"Hold Your Light Where I Can See"
I like people, but being a person makes it very difficult to express.

jerome.higgins@gmail.comI like people, in a general and abstract way. They tend to annoy me after a while, especially in real life (as opposed to online life), but this is usually because they have a problem with me. Which is fair enough, i suppose. I do have a lot of personality flaws. But i enjoy intelligent conversation, unnhostile arguments (also known as "debates"), deep thought, discussion of interests, etc. Speaking of which:
I like reading novels, graphic novels, essays and biographies. Personal favourites include Rushdie, Dahl, Steinbeck (to a degree), Palanhiuk, Pullman, Conan Doyle, Brooks and Vasquez/Scolex.
I'm obsessed with films, but don't like very many per year. The market's getting flooded by abysmal Hollywood tripe, and I cling desperately to english film culture.
Favourite films: fight club, as good as it gets, american history X, alien/s, dances with wolves, schindler's list, Akira, american beauty, leon, about a boy, lock stock & 2s.b.
Aside that, i'm a total slave to my pc, and to Morrowind. I'm quite into webcomics, mainly megatokyo, sexy losers, real life and filthy lies. it's a passive obsession.
music: rammstein, tool, marilyn manson (early stuff), nick cave and the bad seeds, metallica, NIN, rob zombie, feeder, bluetones, muse (old stuff), radiohead (ok computer), simon & garfunkel, et cetera. I'm trying to branch out into classical music, with limited success.
Briefly on the things I significantly hate: I despise (most) people my age. They're irritating, paranoid, backstabbing, ignorant and vindictive, and none of them can spell or punctuate. They're a collective of all the worst bits of adult society, stewing around in a claustrophobic schoolage teenybop environment. I can't tolerate boybands, disco music, rap/R&B, or most other kinds of pop music. I therefore hate most radio stations. I hate goths, grebs, townies, chavs, "trendies", and every other sub-category they've come up with to simplify socail interaction for the sake of those who can't handle having to think. (Dont get me wrong, a lot of those people are nice people, I just can't stand stereotypes.) I also have a thing against people who judge people by their music tastes, something that i try not to do presumptuously.
That's about it, really. Oh, and I really dislike people who are nailed to their opinions and get overly-defensive and self-righteous. This particularly applies to those 'proud mother of war vateran' people, PETA fanatics, anyone who's religious and intolerant, and people obsessed with injecting humanitarian value systems into every form of media. I wholly condemn the concept of political correctness.
But if none of that rings you out, go ahead, talk to me :) I'm really dull.
